Student searching for one year rental

I am an American-Canadian student at the VU considering staying for a second year of study, but I want to be sure I can find a place to live first.  I am not at all picky as long as I can find a place with the basics (a bed, cooking appliances, etc.).  About me - I am 24; I'm generally pretty easygoing and quiet; I do not smoke or do drugs; I do not have any pets; my Dutch is not very good yet, but I am working on it (I can read far better than I can speak); I do not have a job yet (had my first year covered by my scholarship and was not allowed to work during that time), but I will be searching.  If there is anything else you would like to know, feel free to ask!
